Term 1 & 2: Singing & Music-Making (Sep 2024 – Apr 2025)

Up to 60 children at Woodview participated in 15 classical singing (choral) workshops over 14 weeks led by expert practitioners, learning music by great composers such as J.S. Bach and John Rutter. They learnt how to pitch, identify rhythms and pulse, express their creativity through musical shaping and performance technique. Children worked towards two concerts – a school-based Christmas showcase and then an external major concert staged at the REP theatre in Birmingham, where they joined forces with other choirs from across the region to perform a breadth of music alongside professional musicians and opera singers.

Term 3 –Ballet Programme (April – July 2025)

Key strategic aims for the Music, Arts & Culture programme

• Enable children to experience and participate in high quality cultural enrichment activities that will enhance their cultural capital and transform personal development

• Support children to improve their self-confidence, ability to work effectively in a team, communication and interaction skills, attendance/punctuality, leadership capabilities, behaviour and attitudes to learning and wellbeing

• Enable children’s families to access cultural opportunities that will broaden their horizons and expose them to a world of possibilities for their child’s future and life chances.

• Implement a robust evaluation framework to clearly track and evidence improvement in envisioned outcomes
